Harley

Harley was seized by authorities because his owners were starving him to death.

He was laying...dying on a cold, hard shelter floor. Through the efforts of amazing volunteers, Texas Sporting Breed Rescue was able to take this boy from the shelter to a local veterinarian clinic to stabilize and assess his condition.

The team led by Dr. Kirby at Alamo Heights Veterinary Hospital is working diligently to balance his comfort and needs with running diagnostics.

Harley as you can see, is so emaciated it hurts to look at his sweet face...but he is a fighter.

What we have learned in the first 24-hours

  • He has severe kidney disease and we at this time do not know if it is age or related to another underlying issue.
  • We are waiting for a special tick panel to come back.
  • He is severely anemic.
  • To add insult to injury he is of course heartworm positive.
  • They are still fighting the heavy tick population that has taken over his fragile skin. Those buggers are not going without a fight
  • X-rays have been taken and are pending additional review by the radiologists.
Harley, and the doctors continue to need your prayers and well wishes most.

We do not have cost estimates at this time but will post his cost plan when we can more definitively assess his treatment needs beyond diagnostic care.
